Hello ladies and gentlemen,

The team of Tech News is back with another interesting post. Today, we will talk about the latest features which WhatsApp has released in this month. If you have missed with the updates of these new features, then there is no need to worry. We are here to discuss about it. So, without wasting further time, lets jump to the main content.

The instant messaging service app, WhatsApp rolls out new features in the month of November. The important feature rolled out by the Facebook-owned company are:

  • WhatsApp storage management tool.
  • WhatsApp disappearing messages.
  • Report a contact feature.
  • WhatsApp payments.

WhatsApp has finally made all these new features available with the masses with only the "Report a contact" feature being available only for the beta testers. Lets look at these features one by one.

WhatsApp storage management tool:

WhatsApp has released an improved version of the storage management tool and it is really great and useful. A user can now view all the forwarded photos, videos, files in the section and can delete them for once and for all. WhatsApp even lets you separately delete all the media of one chat at a time.

The latest version of the app lets the user check all the media and then you can decide if you want to delete them or keep them. WhatsApp even has a dedicated section that shows files larger than 5MB. The improved version saves a lot of time and makes it easier for us to delete unnecessary data to make space for more important items.

How to find it:

You will find the storage management tool in:

Settings-> Storage and Data-> Manage Storage.

WhatsApp Disappearing Messages:

WhatsApp has finally released the Disappear Messages feature and while it was expected to be similar to another instant messaging app, Telegram, it is not the case. Users are allowed to enable this feature for each chat, but the messages will disappear after seven days.

However, this feature has its issues. The user cannot set a time limit after which the messages disappear. And hence, it brings us to our next problem. The other person might copy the text or take a screenshot within these 7 days which makes it pointless for these messages getting disappeared after a particular period.

Also, if the back-up option is enabled, all the disappearing messages will be stored. These won't be accessible after the user restores messages from it.

You can enable this feature by visiting the profile section of the individual or the group. In the case of a group, only the admins can enable this feature. Moreover, if you forward disappearing messages to a new chat that has the option disabled, then they won't be removed.

Report a Contact Feature:

The Report a Contact Feature has been reworked by WhatsApp. Users can still report both regular and business WhatsApp accounts if they are spammed or harassed on the app, but soon the app will ask for evidence of the same. WhatsApp will ask the user to share recent chat messages before it acts against any account.

So, if you report an account, the user will get a message saying, "Most recent messages from this user will n=be forwarded to WhatsApp". Currently, the user gets the option to block, report, or add the person to contacts, and there is no need to share chats if you wish to report an account.

WhatsApp is yet to make this feature live to all its users. However, it is available for the beta testers and if the person uses the 2.20.206.3 Android version of the app.

WhatsApp Payments:

Millions of users of WhatsApp can now send or receive payments via this instant messaging app. The WhatsApp Payments feature will soon be available for its millions of users as the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has finally given a green signal for it.

However, it will only be released for 20 million WhatsApp users. This is because a 30% cap will be implemented on total payment volumes via each third party payments app starting 1st January 2021. After updating the app, the user will find the WhatsApp Payments feature when the person visits the chat of a user and go to the attachment icon.
